Performing Arts
Curriculum
At Eastern Ranges School we are proud to offer Performing Arts to our students across the school, in line with the Victorian Curriculum.
Students explore four subjects within the Performing Arts space; Music, Dance, Drama and Media Arts across a two year cycle.
Within the Performing Arts room students cover a wide range of personal and social capabilities which tie in with their individual interests and learning goals.
Students explore verbal and non-verbal communication, identifying and expressing emotion and engaging their imaginations through dramatic play. Students engage with others and work together, building on cooperative skills such as, turn taking, listening and play making.
The four subjects support students in the development of creative self-expression, decision making and problem solving, an understanding of self and builds self-confidence and a sense of worth and respect for others.

Students enjoy learning about different genres of music, styles of theatre, styles of dance and explore various media formats, mime, improvisation, role plays, puppet plays and masked drama, composition and many more. In the Performing Arts rooms our staff take into account the student interests, create healthy challenges for our students to achieve success whilst ensuring the student learning and point of need is at the forefront of every decision.
Across the two year cycle students create soundscapes, performance items for concerts including dance items, short movies, skits, puppetry and so much more.
We look forward to creating with our students!
